Finance Manager: Jessica Greco

If you’ve heard of Loccisano’s Golden Dawn or even shopped there in the last 30+ years you may have met or talked to Jessica Greco.  Jessica Greco (Loccisano) was a part of a 104 year old family owned and operated Grocery Store that specialized in not only grocery but their fine cuts of meat and poultry, their bakery, and delicatessen.  There, she learned what it was to be a part of something small yet so big.  We are pleased to introduce to you our Finance Manager, Jessica Greco!

Even though Jessica sought out a career in education even attaining her Master of Education in Special Education Pre-K – 8 at Slippery Rock University, she always knew deep down that she was made to be in business, especially small business!  Alongside her Masters she earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education ECE-6/ESL at Texas State University, an Associate of Applied Science in Multimedia from the Pittsburgh Technical Institute, and her High School Diploma from Lincoln High School right here in Ellwood City in 2000.

As you can tell, Jessica grew up in Ellwood City and currently resides in the borough today along with her husband of 6.5 years, 2 daughters, and another one on the way!  She did reside in Austin, Texas for 5 years but home was where her heart was!  Their furry friend Rex, a pug, has also been a part of her life for a little over 10 years.  Her parents as well as her sisters also live within an arm’s reach in 16117 and they are all avid local business supporters!

October of 2020, Jessica joined the Venezie Sporting Goods team but before that she was a full-time accounting/finance and payroll manager for Loccisano’s where she was a 4th generation family member to work at the store.  Her legacy ended there when her father, Dan, decided it was time to retire, enjoy his time with his family, and sell the business.   Teaching was a dream for Jessica, but it didn’t workout as she planned which is OK especially with all the changes that 2020 brought to her.  She decided to end her career in education and join us.  WE ARE SO GLAD SHE DID!

We needed someone to take the reins on our finances and Jessica fit right in doing so as she knew a lot of what we expected since she was fulfilling most of the responsibilities at Loccisano’s.  Some of her duties include taking care of all the accounting responsibilities, supply ordering, payroll, and managing our monthly reports to name a few!

A few fun facts about Jessica is that she collects vinyl records, is very into music, has played the piano since age 6, loves to run, has an eye for fashion, and enjoys spending time with her family especially at the beach!

Jessica explained, “I love working for a small business.  I love that family feel at work.  I love that it is welcoming, and everyone works together as a team player.”

When asked what her most memorable piece was so far from Venezie Sporting Goods, Jess said,

“Since starting in October, I have seen so many wonderful pieces completed. There have been so many creative, unique, and detailed projects I have seen. Getting to see all of the different businesses, organizations, and schools’ different items created is what makes it most memorable.”

All in all, Jess is a perfect fit here a Venezie Sporting Goods and Apparel – thanks for deciding to retire, Danny, she arrived just in the nick of time!
